Our library needs a bigger, improved facility to meet
our communities' growing and changing needs.
People like everything about our library, except that it's far too small.
The Upper Skagit Library is crammed into just 1,600 sq ft of leased space in the county's community resource building in Concrete. Visitors to the library are amazed that so much is offered in so little space. But it's a very tight squeeze.
Our library is less than half the average size of other Washington libraries serving a similar number of people.
Furthermore, the library is inadequate in many ways. The Upper Skagit Library has:

- No dedicated teen space
- Only a tiny childrens’ nook
- Insufficient workspace for patrons & staff
- No place for private conversations
- Too few computers for public use
- No room to grow the collection
- Inadequate meeting space for programs, classes, collaborations
- Poor handicap accessibility
